QTs for Boobies
On the CVC floor, we care for people who have been diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease and prepare and educate patients found with Multiple Vessel Disease that need to have Open Heart Surgery. We help change lives for the better and walk with them and their families down a new road and a second chance at life again. According to the CDC, "High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors. Several other medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also put people at a higher risk for heart disease, including: Diabetes, Overweight and obesity, Poor diet, Physical inactivity and Excessive alcohol use".
Nothing makes us happier than to have patients come back and visit post open heart surgery. Most of them brag about the exercise they are getting, how much better their diets are and they have stopped smoking. They feel better and are healthier. To be a part of making lives better is why we do what we do.
As a floor, we want to participate in the PGP 5K to continue being role models for our patients, families and communities. We all know and have loved ones and some of our co-workers that went through being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. We are all too aware of how scary that can be. We want to bring awareness and support for those affected.
You can help in two ways. First, please consider donating on our website to help support our team. Second, you can join our team and run or walk with us.Thanks in advance for your gift of time. And remember, "Even the smallest steps move you forward".
